OEMK received participants of the working meeting of Rosprirodnadzor with nature users of five regions

On Oskol Electrometallurgical Combine named after A. A. Ugarov, part of Metalloinvest, held a working meeting of the Central Chernozem Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor with nature users of the Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk and Tambov regions.

The site was not chosen by chance. OEMK is the only full–cycle metallurgical enterprise in Russia that implements the technology of direct reduction of iron and melting in electric furnaces. Metalloinvest is the leader of the domestic low-carbon and "green" metallurgy. The company implements innovative technologies for subsurface use and steel production.

The central topic of the meeting was obtaining integrated environmental permits (CER), as well as improving the quality of consideration of the materials provided included in the applications for their receipt. The CER is a single document for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs operating at an object belonging to the I category of negative environmental impact.

"By the end of the year, all enterprises included in the TOP 300, according to the order of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia No. 154 dated 04/18/2018, must receive a CER. There are ten such facilities in the territory under the jurisdiction of our Department, including Metalloinvest enterprises," commented Alexey Karyakin, head of the Central Research and Development Center of RPN. – The company conducts timely preparation of comprehensive environmental permits. We work in constant cooperation, provide methodological assistance and see that this work can be completed earlier than the deadline. This indicates Metalloinvest's environmental orientation."

Stanislav Marenov, Metalloinvest's Chief ecologist, spoke about cost-effective projects and key environmental measures with direct environmental effects implemented at the Company's enterprises.

"By 2026, Metalloinvest plans to allocate about 5 billion rubles for the implementation of 57 measures with direct environmental impact at OEMK, Lebedinsky and Mikhailovsky GOKs,– Stanislav Marenov noted. "This will reduce atmospheric emissions by 7%, reduce overburden formation by 32%, achieve 100% recycling of OEMK technological waste, completely eliminate discharges into water bodies at OEMK and MGOK, and at LGOK this indicator will decrease by 17%."
