The Open Society "Tacom" - affiliated company of the Open Society "Vympel-communications" (Vympelcom, renders services under brand Beeline) - has started the commercial operation the service of high-speed wireless access to the broadband Internet - WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) in Tajikistan. It is spoken about in the company's report.
The network WISP is capable to provide speed of data transmission up to 3.6 MGB/sec. Within the limits of the project the device with SIM-card Beeline (modem) which is connected to a computer through USB-port, or PCMCI-cards for notebooks is given to the user. SIM- and PCMCI-cards work in networks 2.5/3.5G - with automatic transition from 3.5G to 2.5G in such case when a subscriber appears outside of the cover zone of the network of the third generation, is emphasized in the report.
Now more than 2 thousand subscribers of Vympelcom in Tajikistan use 3G-services.
The Open Society "Tacom" is the operator of cellular communication. The company owns licenses for rendering of services in the territory of Tajikistan in standards GSM--900/1800, UMTS and AMPS. Vympelcom posesses 60% of the authorized capital of Tacom.
Vympelcom is the second-largest cellular operator in Russia and the CIS, it - serves more then 56mln subscribers. Its largest shareholders are Telenor (29.9% of voting shares) and the Alpha-groups (44%), other shares are in the free reference at the New York share stock exchange. The company has let out 51281022 ordinary and 6426600 preference shares, all preference shares belong to "Alpha".
The Net profit of Vympelcom on US GAAP in II quarter of 2007 has made $359.273mln that is 84.3% above the parameter of the similar period of the last year at $194.946mln. Proceeds have increased up 53.1% to $1.717mlrd from $1.122mlrd. OIBDA parameter has grown up 59.7% to $896.758mln from $561.555mln, OIBDA margin have increased up to 52.2% from 50.1%.
The Open Society "Vympelcom" borrows the 17 place in the "Leading enterprises of Russia" rating on the results of 2006, presented by the rating agency AK&M in September, 2007.
