In 2012, 23 M&A events for a total of $6,763.4 million were registered in the oil and gas production / oil refining segments, 2.9 times above the result achieved in 2011 ($2,315.5 million). The number of transactions increased more than twice (against 11 in 2011), according to the latest issue of AK&M Information Agency's bulletin RUSSIAN INDUSTRIES: PRODUCTION, FINANCE, SECURITIES addressing the oil and gas production / oil refining operations.
In 2013, the most looked forward to event in the sector is the acquisition by Rosneft of TNK-BP roughly estimated at $55 billion. This transaction alone, if successful, will surpass the whole Russian M&A market volume in 2012 ($49.69 billion).
