Oracle Corporation entered into agreement to acquire Acme Packet, a global provider of session border control technology, Oracle informed.
The transaction value is about $1.7 billion ($29.25 per share) net of Acme Packet's cash. The target company's technologies enable the trusted, first-class delivery of next-generation voice, data and unified communications services and applications across IP networks.
The deal has been approved by Acme Packet's Board of Directors and is expected to close in H1 2013, subject to Acme Packet stockholder approval, certain regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
Oracle develops and produces open-source and integrated software and hardware.
US GAAP net profit of Oracle for the second quarter of the financial year 2013 increased by 18% year-on-year to $2.6 billion. Income increased by 3% to $9.1 billion.
