Meat production in Russia down 20.2% to 109 thousand tonnes in January

In January 2013, production of meat and edible by-products of meat-producing animals in Russia decreased by 20.2% month-on-month, increased by 22.9% year-on-year to 109 thousand tonnes, the Federal State Statistics Service reported.

Production of poultry meat and edible by-products decreased by 5.8% month-on-month, rose by 9.7% year-on-year to 292 thousand tonnes.

Production of sausage products including stuffed sausage products fell by 14.4% month-on-month, increased by 0.9% year-on-year to 117 thousand tonnes,

Production of subfrozen and frozen meat / meat-containing semi-products decreased by 8.5% month-on-month, increased by 8.3% year-on-year to 119 thousand tonnes; production of canned meat / meat containing canned products decreased by 35.5% month-on-month, increased by 41% year-on-year to 28.8 million standard cans.
