In January 2013, the number of unemployed people in Russia increased by 17.1% month-on-month to 4.477 million, the Federal State Statistics Service informed.
The unemployment rate (under the ILO standards) increased to 6% of the economically active population from 5.3% in December.
1.1 million people were officially registered at the state employment service as unemployed. Among them, 0.9 million received unemployment benefits.
