According to preliminary data, freight handling across the railway network of JSC Russian Railways for January increased by 1.2% year-on-year to 96.3 million tonnes, according to the company's press service.
Freight turnover increased by 7.1% to 191 billion tariff tonne-kilometers, freight turnover with empty runs factored in by 9.1% to 247.6 billion tonne-kilometers.
In particular, Russian Railways handled 26.9 million tonnes of coal (+0.6% year-on-year), 964 thousand tonnes of coke (-5.9%), 22.5 million tonnes of oil and petroleum products (+2.7%), 8.9 million tonnes of iron and manganous ores (+4%), 5.7 million tonnes of ferrous metals (-3.8%), 684 thousand tonnes of ferrous scrap (+2.8%), 4.4 million tonnes of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+14.7%), 1.5 million tonnes of cement (-8.1%).
Besides, Russian Railways handled 995 thousand tonnes of grain (+40.3%), 2.8 million tonnes of timber cargoes (+10.2%), 8.8 million tonnes of construction materials (-9.2%), 1.6 million tonnes of non-ferrous metal ores and sulfur ore (-5.7%); 2.3 million tonnes of chemicals and soda (-0.5%), 2.4 million tonnes of primary industrial raw and molding materials (+12.6%).
JSC Russian Railways (tax number: 7708503727) was established on November 1, 2003 on the basis of the Ministry of Railway Communication. The state holds 100% of the company's shares which owns a railway system stretching for 85.5 thousand km. The company's authorized capital is RUB 1.827 trillion.
IFRS net profit of the company for 2012 dropped 2.2-fold to RUB 78.262 billion from RUB 169.588 billion in 2011. Revenue increased by 4.1% to RUB 1.54 trillion from RUB 1.479 trillion. Operating profit (before subsidies from the federal and local budgets) was RUB 72.038 billion, EBITDA decreased by 8.9% to RUB 319 billion from RUB 350 billion, EBITDA margin to 21% from 24%.
According to the information and retrieval system DataCapital, RAS net profit of JSC Russian Railways for 9 months 2013 decreased 9.37-fold to RUB 4.258 billion from RUB 39.881 billion the year before. Revenue grew by 0.19% to RUB 1.022 trillion from RUB 1.02 trillion, sales profit decreased by 32.64% to RUB 62.476 billion from RUB 92.751 billion, pre-tax profit 3.24-fold to RUB 24.458 billion from RUB 79.242 billion.
