Agricultural production in Russia up 6.2% in 2013

In 2013, Russia increased agricultural production by 6.2%, as stated by Russia's Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the conference call summing up the domestic agricultural sector's development in 2013 and setting objectives for 2014, according to a transcript published on the website of Russia's Government.

On the whole, the sector's development is currently impeded by the high loan debt burden of agricultural companies. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, agroindustrial producers took out RUB 1.16 trillion in loans in 2013, almost 16.5% more than in 2012, said Medvedev
