M&A: R. Tchaikovsky may buy out 49.95% of auto dealer shares

Roman Tchaikovsky, the founder of Independence Group, may acquire 49.95% of the company's shares from Alfa Group's companies and Goldman Sachs for $300 million, the Kommersant reported.

"Roman Tchaikovsky is active at the final stage of purchasing the stake held by Alfa and Goldman Sachs," one of Independence Group's Board Directors commented for the paper adding that the buyout would be completed in the first half of 2014.

U.S.-based investment funds may provide financing for the transaction.

Independence Group is an auto dealer committed to four business segments: sales and maintenance of new automobiles, used cars, manufacture of car bodies, and financial brokerage (Independence-Finservice provides lending, insurance, leasing and expert appraisal services).
