The number of unemployed people in Russia increased by 1.9% month-on-month to 4.19 million in December 2013; decreased by 0.2% year-on-year to 4.137 million in 2013, the Federal State Statistics Service informed.
The unemployment rate (under the ILO standards) increased to 5.6% of the economically active population in December from 5.4% in November.
0.9 million people were officially registered at the state employment service as unemployed. Among them, 0.8 million people received unemployment benefits.
Economically active population totaled 75.1 million (more than 52%)
