Imports from non-FSU countries down 3.4% in Russia in January-June 2014

In January-June 2014, Russia's imports from countries outside the FSU decreased by 3.4% to $125.589 billion, the Federal Customs Service reported.

In June 2014, imports from countries outside the FSU reached $21.862 billion increasing by 1% against May.

Imports of textile products and footwear grew by 35.3% to $1.117 billion, imports of food products and raw materials decreased by 4.5% to $2.793 billion, imports of mechanical engineering products and chemicals showed almost no change.

Among food products and raw materials, imports of vegetables decreased by 26.9%, tobacco by 15.3%, fish by 15.1%, dairy products by 9%, grain crops by 8.1%, vegetable oil by 4.9%. At the same time, imports of meat and by-products increased by 11.1%, alcoholic and non-alcoholic products by 4.2%, sugar by 3.5%, fruit by 2.7%.

Among chemical products, imports of polymers and rubber increased by 2%, soap and detergents by 1.8%. At the same time, imports of organic and non-organic chemicals decreased by 6.7%, imports of pharmaceuticals, perfumes and cosmetics did not change against the previous month.

Among textile products and footwear, imports of footwear increased by 51.6%, textile clothes by 51.5%, knitwear by 43.1%, man-made yarn by 21.6%, clothing materials by 8.7%, cotton by 3.2%, chemical fibers by 31.7%. At the same time, imports of textile fabric decreased by 10.7%, ready textile products by 4.6%.

Among mechanical engineering products, purchases of vessels and watercraft increased 1.9-fold, railway locomotive components by 62.9%, electrical equipment by 4%, mechanical equipment by 2.5%, aircraft by 1.8%. Imports of overland transport vehicles decreased by 13.1%, optical tools and devices by 1.6%.

Compared with June 2013, imports from countries outside the FSU decreased by 3.1%. In particular, purchases of chemicals dropped by 4.7%, mechanical engineering products by 3%, food products by 0.4%. At the same time, imoprts of textile products and footwear grew by 7.4%.

Among food products and raw materials, imports of tobacco decreased by 25.2%, meat and by-products by 16.8%, grain crops by 15.6%, fish by 7%, dairy products by 3.6%, vegetable oil by 2.5%, fruit by 1.8%. At the same time, imports of sugar increased 2.2-fold, vegetables by 32.9%, alcoholic and non-alcoholic products by 3.9%.

Among chemicals, imports of pharmaceuticals decreased by 15.8%, organic and non-organic chemicals by 0.8%, polymers and rubber by 0.7%. At the same time, imports of soap and detergents increased by 10.4%, perfumes and cosmetics by 0.5%.

Among textile products and footwear, purchases of man-made yarn grew by 22.1%, textile clothes by 13.2%, knitwear by 12.4%, clothing materials by 6.3%, footwear by 0.6%. The cost of imported cotton decreased by 18%, ready textile products by 8.3%, textile fabric by 5.8%, chemical fibers by 5.6%.

Among mechanical engineering products, imports of vessels watercraft decreased by 37.9%, railway locomotives by 33.7%, overland transport vehicles by 15.9%, optical tools and devices by 9.3%, electrical equipment by 7%, mechanical equipment by 1.1%. At the same time, imports of aircraft grew 2.2 times.
