According to preliminary data, the total planting acreage for grain and leguminous crops to be harvested in 2014 at all the farming units (agricultural companies, farmers, households) has reached 46.1 million ha, no change year-on-year, the Federal State Statistics Service informed.
The planting acreage for grain and leguminous crops held steady year-on-year; wheat acreage decreased by 0.2%, sugar beet acreage increased by 1.4%, vegetable acreage by 0.1%. Sunflower acreage shrank by 6.1%, potato acreage by 1.9%.
Agricultural companies still account for most of the grain and leguminous crop acreage (70% of the total planting area at Russia's farming units; also, their share is 88.7% for sugar beet, 65.9% for sunflower).
Peasant farm enterprises accounted for 29.1% of the total grain and leguminous crop acreage (against 27.5% in 2013), 33.7% of the sunflower area (against 32.7%), 10.7% of the sugar beet area (against 10.6%).
The total planting acreage for grain and leguminous crops at all the farming units of the Crimean Federal District decreased by 2.6% year-on-year to 514.7 thousand ha including (274.9 thousand ha of wheat (+3.9%), 82.5 thousand ha of sunflower (+1.5%), 17.8 thousand ha of potatoes (-11.7%), 15.3 thousand ha of vegetables (-15%)
