In May 2014, the minimum average monthly food basket in Russia reached RUB 3,236 (+3.1% in May, +13.1% since the start of the year), Russia's Federal State Statistics Service informed.
In Moscow, the minimum monthly food basket increased in price to RUB 3,839 (+3% in May, +12.7% since the start of the year). In St. Petersburg, the minimum monthly food basket increased to RUB 3,685 (3.2% in May, +15% since the start of the year).
The most expensive minimum food baskets were in Chukotka autonomous area (RUB 8,075), Magadan region (RUB 5,660), the Sakha Republic / Yakutia (RUB 5,059), Kamchatka Krai (RUB 5,026), Sakhalin region (RUB 4,742).
The cheapest food baskets were in Kursk region (RUB 2,558), Saratov region (RUB 2,657), Penza region (RUB 2,666), Tambov region (RUB 2,698), and Lipetsk region (RUB 2,711)
