In January-April 2014, retail turnover in Russia increased by 3.3% year-on-year to RUB 7,759 billion, Russia's Federal State Statistics Service reported.
In April 2014 alone, retail turnover increased by 2.6% year-on-year to RUB 2,024 billion.
Trading companies and individual entrepreneurs operating out of market accounted for 91.6%, retail markets and fairs for 8.4% of the retail turnover in April (against 90.7% and 9.3%, respectively, in April 2013).
The relative share of imported goods in the retail commodity turnover in Q1 2014 was 43% (against 44% in Q1 2013).
The commodity breakdown of thre ratail turnover is as follows: food products including beverages and tobacco products 47.3%; non-food products 52.7% (against 46.9% and 53.1%, respectively, in April 2013).
