Russia's leading telecom operators increased number of LTE stations 1.5 times

In 2018, the number of base stations of the LTE standard belonging to the Big Four operators increased 1.5 times to 240 thousand, Russia's Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media informed.

T2 Mobile LLC leads in the pace of development of 4G and 4G-based telecom networks. The number of the operator's LTE base stations increased by 122.7% against the start of the year. MegaFon leads in the number of base stations of this standard (86,435).

At the end of 2018, LTE radioelectronic facilities accounted for almost 35% of the total number of radioelectronic facilities at the Big Four operators (against 27% early in the year).

Tele2 is a cellular service provider operating in Russia since 2003. The company provides telecom services in 65 regions of Russia, including Moscow and Moscow region. The company's shares have been listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Stockholm since 1996.

Net loss of Tele2 for 2017 decreased by 64.6% to RUB 5.5 billion from RUB 15.6 billion the year before. Operating revenue grew by 16.2% to RUB 123 billion from RUB 105.9 billion, EBITDA by 83.9% to RUB 30.5 billion from RUB 16.6 billion.

In Q1 2018, Tele2 increased its EBITDA by 42.5% year-on-year to RUB 9.4 billion against RUB 6.6 billion. EBITDA margin reached 28.6% increasing by 4.8 p.p. The debt to EBITDA ratio decreased by 42% to 3.7. Average revenue per user (ARPU) grew by 14.5% to RUB 264 against RUB 231. In the first quarter of 2018 Tele2, launched six new 4G networks. At the end of the reporting period, the number of regions covered by the company's LTE networks reached 56 regions.

Net profit of Tele2 for H1 2018 was RUB 1 billion against a loss of RUB 3.6 billion a year earlier. Operating revenue increased by 18.41% to RUB 68 billion from RUB 57.4 billion, EBITDA by 43.7% to RUB 20.4 billion from RUB 14.2 billion.

PJSC VimpelCom (tax number: 7713076301) is a cellular operator operating in Russia and the CIS countries. The company provides services under the Beeline brand to over 63 million subscribers in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Laos.

VimpelCom's authorized capital is RUB 288,538. It consists of 51,281,022 common and 6,426,600 preferred shares with a face value of RUB 0.005.

Mobile TeleSystems PJSC (MTS, tax number: 7740000076) and its subsidiaries provide services to about 100 million subscribers in Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Turkmenistan. The company also provides fixed-line telephony and cable television services in all federal districts of Russia and in Ukraine.

The company's authorized capital is RUB 199.84 million. It consists of 1,998,381,575 placed ordinary shares.

IFRS loss of MTS for Q3 2018 was RUB 37 billion against a profit of RUB 18 billion a year earlier. Revenue increased by 11.7% to RUB 128 billion from RUB 114.6 billion, adjusted OIBDA by 21.6% to RUB 59.3 billion from RUB 48.8 billion.

PJSC MegaFon (tax number: 7812014560) established in 1993 as CJSC North-West GSM and renamed as OJSC MegaFon in 2002, is currently the second largest mobile operator in the Russian Federation providing services to more than 69 million subscribers. MegaFon's subsidiaries are operating in Tajikistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

According to AK&M Information Agency's DataCapital information retrieval system, RAS net profit of PJSC MegaFon for H1 2018 was RUB 15.664 billion against a loss of RUB 10.805 billion a year earlier. Revenue increased by 2.5% to RUB 144.944 billion from RUB 141.351 billion, gross profit by 3% to RUB 49.476 billion from RUB 47.981 billion. Pre-tax profit amounted to RUB 15.665 billion against a loss of RUB 10.805 billion.

IFRS net profit of MegaFon for Q3 2018 decreased by 4.6% year-on-year to RUB 7.744 billion. Consolidated revenue increased by 4.7% to RUB 88.733 billion, OIBDA by 0.9% to RUB 33.654 billion. APEX increased by 47% year-on-year to RUB 18.478 billion. For the 12-month period ending on September 30, 2018, the number of mobile subscribers decreased by 0.4% to 76.9 million.
