In 2018, foreign dotcom companies paid RUB 12 billion in VAT in Russia, which is RUB 2.6 billion more than in 2017, according to a statement by Russia's Federal Tax Service as a result of reviewing the results of the VAT declaration campaign involving foreign dotcom companies providing electronic services to physical persons (B2C).
It should be noted that on January 1, 2019 the companies providing electronic services to companies and sole proprietors (B2B) will join the current participants of the VAT declaration program. The first applications from these companies were submitted in December 2018. 465 applications have since been submitted, including applications from market leaders such as Cisco, IBM, QIWI, Opera Software, Phoenix Contact, Citrix Systems, Siemens, NokiaSolutions, etc. A total of 280 companies are currently registered at Russian tax authorities, the registration process continues.
