Russia and Kazakhstan have agreed to develop branches of Russian universities

The work of existing and the opening of new branches of Russian universities in Kazakhstan became the main topics of the fourth meeting of the Subcommittee on Cooperation in Education and Science between Russia and Kazakhstan in Almaty. The meeting was co-chaired by Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Talgat Yeshenkulov, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The agenda included issues of expanding the areas of training of specialists at the branch of the National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI" in Almaty, the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on the functioning of Chelyabinsk State University in the city of Kostanay.

In addition, the issue of opening a branch of the D.I. Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology on the basis of M.H. Dulati Taraz Regional University was raised this year. Earlier, on the basis of the university, the opening of the representative office of the RCTU took place. It performs the functions of a project office for the coordination of joint scientific and educational Russian-Kazakh programs, as well as interaction with industrial partners.

Special attention was paid to updating the regulatory framework for the functioning of the branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) Sunrise in the city of Baikonur.

"The MAI branch in Baikonur is our oldest branch in Kazakhstan. And now we have the opportunity, together with our Kazakh colleagues, to intensify his work on training national personnel for the development of the Baikonur complex. The unique historical heritage and the projects that are being implemented at Baikonur to develop the scientific and economic potential of our countries are in urgent need of qualified personnel. In this regard, the development of the branch is of particular importance and mutual interest," Konstantin Mogilevsky said.

The parties also agreed to work out the issue of creating a joint working group to develop a roadmap for the opening of a branch of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the Russian Federation.
