For the first 9 months of 2020, meat exports from Russia increased by 79% year-on-year to $610 million. China is the largest Russian meat buyer, importing products for a total amount of $235 million in 2020, which is 3.9 times more than in 2019, Russia's Ministry of Agriculture informed.
Vietnam stands second increasing meat purchases 3.8 times to $92 million. Ukraine ranks third purchasing Russian meat for $80 million (+14%). Exports to Hong Kong increased 2.1 times to $47 million, exports to Kazakhstan by 48% to $35 million.
Poultry meat has the largest share in total exports in this segment (+71% to $317 million). Exports of Russian pork and by-products increased more than twice to reach 131,000 tonnes in physical terms and $219 million in money terms. All key supply segments saw stronger performance. As the market of Vietnam opened in November 2019, Russian companies supplied $86 million worth of pork to the markets of this country.
In 2020, Russia supplied 9.4 thousand tonnes of beef for a total amount of $48 million to foreign markets, which is 2.9 times above the 2019 result. The is the largest buyer of Russian beef which was granted access to this market in mid-January.
