A case has been initiated in connection with actions against the Russian Nord Stream– 1 and Nord Stream– 2 gas pipelines

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has taken measures in connection with actions against the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream –1 and Nord Stream-2. This is stated in the message of the supervisory authority.

No later than September 26, 2022, deliberate actions were committed in the Bornholm Island area to damage the Nord Stream–1 and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines laid along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

Through these pipelines, the Russian Federation supplied natural gas to the countries of the European Union both for industrial use and for residential heating purposes.

As a result of these actions, the Russian Federation has suffered significant economic damage.

Due to the presence of signs of a crime provided for in part 1 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (an act of international terrorism), a criminal case was initiated by the Investigation Department of the FSB of Russia on materials sent by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in accordance with paragraph 2 of part 2 of Article 37 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. A preliminary investigation has been launched.
