A new metro line is being built in Moscow. The sinking of the right tunnel of the Biryulevskaya line between the stations "Island of Dreams" and "Klenovy Boulevard" has started — the first stage of the project. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this in his Telegram channel.

As a result, 10 stations will be built. The length of the entire line is 22 km. The first three stations — "ZIL", "Island of Dreams" and "Klenovy Boulevard" — have already begun to be built.

In the coming months, construction of the left tunnel between the stations "Island of Dreams" and "Klenovy Boulevard" will begin. The construction of both tunnels is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026.

The Biryulevskaya line will be launched in stages: the ZIL — Kuryanovo section with four stations should be completed in 2028; the Kuryanovo — Biryulyovo section with six stations in 2030.

Electric depot Yuzhnoye will serve the trains of the new branch, and Biryulyovskoye from 2030.

The decision to build a subway in Moscow was made in 1931, and on October 15, 1934, the first test train ran along the Komsomolskaya—Sokolniki section. The first section of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line was opened to passengers on February 26, 2018, and the line was fully opened on March 1, 2023.
