A new landfill for municipal solid waste (MSW) has been built in the Galichsky district of the Kostroma region. The facility was built at the expense of the regional operator LLC Polygon. The total cost of construction exceeded 98 million rubles. This was reported by REO.
A waste disposal facility with a capacity of 30 thousand tons per year, an administrative and economic area with scales, a site for machinery and a sorting complex are located on the territory of the landfill. The permit for the commissioning of the facility in the Galich district was received on December 26, 2024. The estimated service life will be 30 years.
The underlying layer of the landfill body is made of waterproofing materials that prevent substances formed during the decomposition of waste from entering the soil.
This facility will receive the sorted waste that is generated in Antropovsky, Galichsky, Buisky, Parfenyevsky, Soligalichsky and Chukhloma districts of the region, the city districts of Buy and the city of Galich. Currently, waste from these areas is being transported to the existing landfill facility of LLC Polygon, which will exhaust its capacity in 2 years. The new facility will completely replace the old landfill," added Evgeny Karelov, Deputy General Director of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
