The newly created protected area with an area of about 1.8 thousand hectares is located in the Ruza urban district, it includes the water area and coastal territories of the Ozerninsky reservoir. "Veyna" became the sixth recreational zone and the 264th protected area of the Moscow region.

The recreational zone involves recreation, first of all, by the water, since, in addition to the Ozerninsky reservoir, it includes the waters of the Ozerna, Veyna, Gorodenka, Perevolochnya, Poboinka and Rykunovka rivers. The protected area is distinguished by its rich biodiversity: 115 species of vertebrates belonging to the 22nd order are observed here. At least 16 species of fish live in the reservoir and the rivers flowing into it, three species of amphibians, one species of reptiles, 73 species of birds and 23 species of mammals are found on the coastal territory. The population of the Ozerninsky asp is listed in the Red Book of the Moscow region.
