ADNOC Drilling Co., a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), plans to acquire a drilling company with assets in Kuwait and Oman. This is reported in the press release of ADNOC Drilling.
As part of the deal, ADNOC Drilling will gain access to eight existing onshore drilling rigs, six in Oman and two in Kuwait. After the closing of the deal, which is expected in early 2026, the number of installations is planned to double.
The deal will be the second acquisition in 2025, following the buyout of 70% of SLB's drilling business in Kuwait and Oman for $112 million in May 2025. In addition, ADNOC Drilling plans to complete two more deals with service technology companies by the end of 2025. The total value of the transactions concluded through the joint venture between Enersol and Alpha Dhabi Holding PJSC will amount to $350 million.
ADNOC spun off the ADNOC Drilling drilling division in 2021 as part of the creation of several divisions to raise funds and provide investors with access to the UAE market. Although ADNOC's public divisions have expanded their presence in international markets, they are still dependent on domestic contracts.
ADNOC Drilling is drilling wells using hydraulic fracturing in unconventional oil and gas fields in the Abu Dhabi region. In addition, Adnoc Drilling has signed a contract to install drilling rigs for the expansion of the Upper Zakum field, ADNOC's joint venture with Exxon Mobil Corp. Six drilling rigs will start operating on the project from 2026 to 2028.
