The 1655th issue of the bulletin "Branches of the Russian Economy: Production, Finance, Securities. Mechanical Engineering" of the AK&M Information Agency.

In November 2025, the Russian engineering industry experienced a deepening recession. Total production in the five machine-building industries was 6.1% lower than in November 2024. The trend of the last year towards a decrease in growth rates has continued in the transition to negative values. In general, it can be said that machine-building industries in the second half of 2025 demonstrate a transition to stagnation and recession, but the results are not uniform across sectors. In November last year, Rosstat recorded a significant decline in industrial production in three of the five engineering sectors in annual dynamics. The production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers decreased the fastest. At the same time, the PMI index of manufacturing industries in Russia in December 2025 amounted to 48.1 points, demonstrating a deterioration in operating performance in the industry for the seventh month in a row.

The Tu-214 aircraft received a certificate from the Federal Air Transport Agency for approval of design changes. Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin stressed that the approval paves the way for the serial production of aircraft for domestic airlines. PJSC Tupolev should continue to improve the design of the aircraft to meet the requirements of the operators. PJSC UAC plans to produce up to 8 Tu-214 aircraft in 2026, and up to 12 in 2027. By 2028, it is expected that the production volume will reach 20 aircraft annually. This became possible due to the renovation of fixed assets, the construction of new buildings and the introduction of domestic machine tools.

The value of exports of machine-building products in January—October 2025 amounted to $21.5 billion, while the volume of imports of similar products is 5 times higher - $108.1 billion. In annual comparison, the growth in the value of exports for the first ten months amounted to 25.4%, while the value of imports decreased by 3.2% year-on-year. In general, the trend towards reducing the differential between the cost of exports and imports of engineering products in 2025 continues.

The strategy for the development of the automotive industry until 2035 is being updated, taking into account the task of increasing the share of domestic production to 80%. This was discussed at a meeting chaired by the First Deputy head of Government with the participation of representatives of relevant departments and heads of leading companies in the industry. The implementation of the main provisions of the strategy should meet the needs of the market and the transport complex for competitive Russian cars, ensuring the share of domestic products at least 80% of the total volume. The strategy also involves optimizing car manufacturing processes by increasing labor productivity, automation and robotics, and expanding the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.
