In June 2024, the Russian engineering industry experienced growth for the sixteenth month in a row. Total production in the five engineering industries was 9.8% higher than in June 2023. At the same time, compared with May, production growth rates remained at the previously achieved level. In general, according to Rosstat, in the first half of 2024, the total turnover of enterprises in all sectors of mechanical engineering increased significantly by 42.8% compared to the same period in 2023. In June of this year, Rosstat recorded a significant increase in industrial production in four of the five engineering sectors in annual dynamics. The production of motor vehicles increased at the highest rate. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia predicts an increase in industrial production by the end of 2024 at the level of 4%.
In May 2024, global chip sales increased by 13.9% year-on-year, to $49.15 billion, by April sales increased by 4.1%. The global semiconductor market grew year-on-year during each month of 2024, and sales in May increased by the most since April 2022. The American market has seen particularly strong growth. Sales in North and South America increased by 43.6% in May compared to the same month a year earlier, in China – by 24.2%, in Asia-Pacific and other regions – by 13.8%.
A new bearing plant will be built in the Rostov region. The construction of a new production facility is planned in the Azov district on an area of 10 hectares. It will be carried out by the Don company Tenth Bearing Plant LLC. The construction is planned to be completed in 2029. The plant is currently being designed. The creation of a new production facility will ensure a multiple increase in the manufactured range of bearing products, as well as allow the development of about ten new types of products.
The United Engine Corporation and the private company Reynolds LLC have announced a merger. The purpose of the merger is to develop a line of domestic small–sized gas turbine engines with thrust up to 200 kgf, as well as to organize their mass production for a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles. All necessary corporate and legal procedures will be completed by the end of 2024. The consolidation of the efforts of the two companies will allow us to quickly and efficiently bring to market a range of engines with thrust of 20, 40, 60, 100 and 150 kgf with current characteristics and a competitive price, which will be achieved by optimizing overhead costs and organizing specialized production.
The law on public-private partnership in the field of space activities has been signed. The law provides that the financing of space activities can be carried out both from the federal budget and extra-budgetary funds, including in accordance with the mechanisms provided for by the legislation on public-private partnership. The document gives Roscosmos State Corporation the powers of a public partner under these agreements, it defines the objects of such agreements, which include space infrastructure, which are real estate, as well as technologically related space objects (including spacecraft).
The Government of the Russian Federation has expanded the mechanism of state support for the creation and increase in the area of industrial parks and technoparks in certain regions and new subjects. Now the management companies of industrial parks, technoparks and technoparks in the field of high technologies will be able to count on partial reimbursement by the state for the reindustrialization of production facilities – modernization, reconstruction and creation of infrastructure facilities based on existing industrial enterprises. The amount of such compensation will be calculated based on taxes and customs duties paid by residents of the parks.
