AK&M summed up the results of the M&A market in the third quarter

In the third quarter of 2021, the M&A market with a threshold of $1 million increased markedly against the result of last year. The total value of transactions increased 2.2 times compared to July-September 2020, amounting to $11.59 billion against $5.07 billion a year earlier. This is stated in the bulletin "Mergers and Acquisitions Market" of the AK&M News Agency.

In the reporting period, 163 transactions took place, compared to 94 a year earlier (+73.4%). In particular, three billion-dollar deals were concluded. The largest transaction was recorded in construction and development — Sberbank completed the sale of 100% of Eurocement Group and the rights of claim on its loans for $2201.3 million. The second largest transaction was in trade — Magnit acquired the Dixie and Megamart store chains, the cost of which amounted to $1,326 million. The third place was taken by the largest September transaction — Eduard Khudainatov's Independent Oil and Gas Company (NOC) acquired 50% of JSC Tomskneft VNK from Rosneft for an estimated $1.1 billion.

In October, several billion-dollar deals were completed, including Sibur Holding, the largest petrochemical company in Russia, acquired TAIF Group of Companies, the value of which could amount to $3.5-4.5 billion, the combined company is estimated at $26.8 billion.

In addition, another major transaction is being completed in the communications market: Ivan Tavrin's Kismet Capital Group and MegaFon have agreed on a deal, as a result of which it is planned to create an independent tower infrastructure company.
