Irkutsk State Institute and Yakutniproalmaz Institute have summarized the results of a study of aquatic bioresources and habitats of more than 10 rivers of Yakutia that flow in the area of possible influence of ALROSA's production activities. This is stated in the company's message.
Monitoring of aquatic biological resources was carried out for three years. The specialists studied the chemical composition of the water, selected over 1,000 different samples of aquatic vegetation, invertebrates and fish for changes in species composition and natural habitat conditions.
Hydrochemical studies of water composition have shown that ALROSA's industrial facilities have no impact on aquatic ecosystems. The process water of the processing complexes of mining plants circulates in a closed cycle, which prevents it from entering the river network. In 2024, the share of recycled and recycled water in technological processes increased by 1 percentage point to 98%.
