Applied Aerospace, an American developer of solutions for spacecraft, aircraft, and ground systems, has completed the acquisition of polymer materials manufacturer NeXolve. This is reported in a press release from Applied Aerospace.

NeXolve has extensive experience in thermomechanics and polymer applications for space systems. Specifically, NeXolve has developed deployable sunscreens, solar sails, and weatherproof sails for a wide range of NASA and U.S. Department of Defense spacecraft.

NeXolve has state-of-the-art equipment, including a spacecraft assembly plant, a characterization laboratory, a thin film production line, polymer coating stands, and a materials synthesis and manufacturing center. One of the most famous projects was the development and control tests of a sunscreen for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

NeXolve will join Applied Aerospace's Advanced Materials & Deployable Systems division and serve as the executive and operational division in Huntsville, close to one of the nation's most prestigious space technology development centers.

In addition, the combined company plans to develop a new line of subsystems, including solar panels, sunscreens, and passive de-orbiting systems. NeXolve will retain the brand as the name for its extensive range of polyimide resins and films.

Applied Aerospace is a company that develops fuselage and wing designs, fairings, antennas, and other complex solutions used in aviation, launch vehicles, and spacecraft. Applied Aerospace is a portfolio company of Greenbriar Equity. The company is headquartered in Stockton, California.

NeXolve is a developer of advanced technologies and engineering services in the field of high—performance materials and equipment for the production of aerospace products and polymer materials for electronics, displays and spacecraft for the benefit of commercial and government customers, including NASA, Department of Defense and commercial companies.
