The American cryptocurrency exchange Kraken (Payward Inc.) has signed an agreement to acquire the NinjaTrader futures platform for $1.5 billion. This is reported in the Kraken press release.

The deal expands Kraken's capabilities by acquiring the right to offer crypto futures and derivatives in the U.S. and other more traditional markets, and accelerates Kraken's plans to trade stocks and futures for two million users.

NinjaTrader, which is majority owned by Long Ridge Equity Partners, is registered by the American Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a Futures Commission Merchant.

Upon completion of the transaction, NinjaTrader will retain its independent status and will be able to use Kraken licenses in the UK, Europe and Australia to accelerate expansion in these regions.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025. PJT Partners acts as a financial advisor to Kraken, and Jefferies LLC acts as a consultant to NinjaTrader.
