Intel Corp., an American company developing and manufacturing electronic devices and computer components, plans to cut more than 20% of its staff in order to optimize management and restructure its engineering culture. This is reported in the Intel press release.
In August 2024, Intel had already reduced 15,000 employees, and at the end of 2024, Intel's staff included 109,000 employees, compared with 125,000 in 2023.
The new CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who took over Intel in March 2025, intends to conduct a major restructuring of the company. In particular, Tan plans to separate assets that are not a priority for Intel. In mid-April 2025, Intel sold 51% of Altera, a manufacturer of programmable integrated circuits.
In February 2025, Intel announced the release of a new Twin Lake series of processors designed specifically for use in compact computers and single-board systems.
