American semiconductor manufacturer MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire ENGIN-IC, Inc., a developer of monolithic microwave integrated circuits made of gallium nitride. This is reported in the MACOM press release.
The deal is aimed at strengthening MACOM's position in target markets through the design capabilities of ENGINE-IC.
Since its founding in 2014, ENGIN-IC has focused on serving the American defense industry. The company operated on a self-financing basis under contracts for innovative research for the US Department of Defense and the implementation of integrated circuit development projects.
MACOM develops and manufactures semiconductor products for telecommunications, industry, defense, and data centers. The company offers 6 thousand customers a wide range of products, including radio frequency, microwave, analog and mixed signals, as well as optical semiconductor technologies. The headquarters is located in Lowell (Massachusetts) with manufacturing facilities in the United States.
ENGIN-IC is a company developing complex radio frequency subsystems for the defense, high—tech and telecommunications markets. The headquarters are located in Plano (Texas) and San Diego (California).
