The Sherwin-Williams Company has completed the acquisition of the Brazilian division of BASF Suvinil after obtaining regulatory approvals. This is reported in a press release from Sherwin-Williams.
In February 2025, Sherwin-Williams entered into an agreement to acquire Suvinil Coatings S. A., the Brazilian division of the German chemical company BASF Societas Europaea, for $1.15 billion.
The deal is aimed at expanding Sherwin-Williams' presence in Latin America. In addition, as part of the deal, Sherwin-Williams expects to increase consolidated sales by $525 million due to the production performance of Suvinil, which operates two facilities in the southeastern region of Brazil. Upon completion of the transaction, Suvinil will become part of the Sherwin-Williams Consumer Brands Group.
Suvinil is a Brazilian manufacturer of architectural paints. The company develops, manufactures and sells a wide range of innovative products under the Suvinil and Glasu! brands. The company is a Brazilian division of the German BASF.
BASF is the largest chemical concern in Europe with headquarters in Ludwigshafen (Germany).
Sherwin-Williams is an American paint and varnish manufacturer with sales of over $11 billion. The company produces products under the brands Sherwin-Williams, Valspar, HGTV HOME, etc. The headquarters is located in Cleveland (Ohio) with offices in 120 countries and a network of 5,000 branded stores and branches.
