The British telecom operator Airtel Africa Plc plans to hold an IPO of the Airtel Money division to raise $1.5–2 billion. This is reported in the Airtel press release.

Previously, the possibility of holding an IPO in the UAE was considered, but at the moment London is the most likely location for Airtel Money shares. Citigroup Inc. is acting as the organizer of the company's IPO.

The market value of Airtel Money may increase to $10 billion as part of one of the largest IPOs on the European stock exchange in recent years. Airtel Money's investors include TPG Inc., Mastercard Inc. and a subsidiary of Qatar's sovereign wealth fund.

Africa has become a center of attraction for fintech companies in an effort to attract a younger generation interested in technological banking services.

Airtel Africa Plc is a British company providing telecommunications and mobile money transfer services in 14 African countries. Airtel Africa, controlled by Bharti Enterprises Ltd, is the third largest wireless carrier in Africa with 52 million users. The headquarters are located in London (England) and Lagos (Nigeria).
