Vodafone Group Plc has entered into an agreement to acquire the stake of CK Hutchison Group Telecom Holding Limited (CKHGT) in the VodafoneThree joint venture for 4.3 billion pounds (4.9 billion euros). This is reported in a Vodafone press release.
Upon completion of the deal, Vodafone will become the sole owner of the UK's largest mobile operator VodafoneThree, which is one of the fastest growing broadband providers.
Vodafone currently owns 51% of VodafoneThree, while CKHGT owns 49%. The total value of VodafoneThree is 13.85 billion pounds. The completion of the transaction, which is expected in the second half of 2026, is subject to regulatory approval.
Since the merger of Vodafone UK and Three UK subsidiaries in 2025, significant progress has been made in integrating assets with significant network quality improvements to create one of Europe's leading telecommunications networks through a capital investment of 700 million pounds by 2030.
In June 2023, Vodafone and Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Group Telecom Holdings entered into a definitive agreement to merge the British telecommunications assets of Vodafone UK and Three UK to create a new MergeCo company that will level the competitive playing field and increase the choice of wholesale partners for British MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators).
Under the terms of the deal, the combined company will invest 11 billion pounds over 10 years to create one of the most advanced 5G autonomous networks in Europe with the full support of the UK government.

Vodafone serves more than 18 million subscribers in the UK and is the largest fiber supplier. The headquarters is located in Newbury (Berkshire, England).
