Danone has included a repurchase option in a deal to transfer control in the Russian dairy products and vegetable beverages business. The Kommersant newspaper writes about this with reference to its sources.
According to one of them, investors are offered from 75%, Danone wants to retain a stake and a seat on the board of directors of the Russian company after the transaction.
Recall that in the fall of 2022, Danone decided to relinquish control over Russian dairy production assets. Then it was reported that Danone would transfer control of the Essential Dairy and Plant-based (EDP) business in Russia to a new owner, while not specifying the name of the final beneficiary of the transaction.
In addition, at the end of 2022, Danone liquidated the branch of the Vladimirsky Dairy Plant. Plans to sell the plant were announced back in 2020. Then the company was negotiating with new investors, two interested companies were named. However, in 2021 it was decided to close the plant.
Danone is one of the world's largest producers of dairy products and other food products. The company has been operating in Russia since 1992 and produces products under the brands Danone, Prostokvashino, Activia, Actimel, Rastishka.
