DigitalBridge and KKR plan to acquire a controlling stake in French XpFibre

American investment companies DigitalBridge Group Inc. and KKR&Co. They are on the list of applicants for the acquisition of a controlling stake in the French fiber optic company Xpfibre Groupe SAS. This is reported by foreign media.

Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. and Vauban Infrastructure Partners also intend to participate in the bidding announced by billionaire Patrick Drahi, who owns 50.01% of XpFibre shares through Altice France SA.

The remaining shares of XpFibre belong to a consortium led by OMERS Infrastructure, which acquired 49.99% of the shares in 2019 for 1.7 billion euros, valuing the company at 3.4 billion euros. The consortium also includes German Allianz Capital Partners and French AXA IM Alts.

Initial offers from bidders totaled 8 billion euros ($9.4 billion), including debt obligations. Applicants must submit new bids in the next round of bidding in May 2026.

P.Drahi put up for sale most of the telecommunications assets in France, starting with the mobile operator SFR, in order to reduce the debt burden of $ 60 billion. In October 2025, the company received a bid of 17 billion euros from a consortium of Bouygues Telecom, Iliad SA and Orange SA, but rejected the offer as undervalued.

In May 2024, Altice France transferred a controlling stake in XpFibre to a subsidiary that was exempt from certain debt obligations, allowing the parent company to raise new funds or sell assets.
