In the Russian Federation, financing for the prevention and control of forest fires in 2026 was increased by 7 billion rubles and will amount to about 27 billion rubles. This is reported on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers with reference to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, who held a meeting on readiness to ensure the safety of the passage of the flood-prone period and the fire season in 2026.
In 2025, the area covered by fire was reduced by almost 2 times. The Cabinet of Ministers allocated 20 billion rubles for the prevention and control of forest fires. In particular, due to this, a forest fire center was created in the Far East.
Patrushev instructed the Russian Hydrometeorological Service to prepare a forecast of the situation with wildfires. Rosleskhoz will check the readiness of all regions for the season, paying special attention to the state of equipment and staffing of formations, as well as measures for fire protection of forests.
