French TotalEnergies has received permission to develop Block 8 offshore Lebanon

The French oil and gas company TotalEnergies SE, the Italian Eni S.p.A. and the Qatari QatarEnergy have signed an agreement with the Lebanese government to develop the Block 8 project offshore Lebanon. This is reported in the TotalEnergies press release.

The Block 8 project is being implemented by a consortium with the participation of TotalEnergies (35% as the operator), Eni (35%) and QatarEnergy (30%).

The consortium's initial work program at the Block 8 site provides for conducting 3D seismic surveys covering an area of 1,200 km2 in order to further assess the exploration potential of the area. Despite the fact that drilling of the Qana well at Block 8 has not yielded positive results, the management of TotalEnergies continues to conduct exploration activities in Lebanon.
