At Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg LLC, at the end of May, regular pneumatic tests of domestic pipe products took place. This is stated in the company's message.

A new generation pipe with a diameter of 1420 mm with a wall thickness of 31.4 mm of strength class K70 was tested for strength at the landfill in the city of Kopeysk, Chelyabinsk region.

This type of product is intended for the construction of gas pipelines with an ultra-high operating pressure of 150 atmospheres. The production of such pipes is organized at domestic metallurgical enterprises on the initiative of PJSC Gazprom. This year, a series of tests of K70 steel pipes with a wall thickness of 26.3 mm and 31.6 mm from three Russian manufacturers has already passed.

In the course of pneumatic tests, finished pipes are checked for resistance to extended destruction. To do this, they are welded into a whip about 200 m long and pumped with air, raising the pressure level above the working one. After that, the rupture of the central section of the pipeline is initiated. The test result is determined by the nature of the destruction of the experimental whip, as well as after a thorough study of the instrument readings and examination of metal samples by specialists of specialized institutes.
