German steel distributor Klöckner&Co SE is negotiating with the American Worthington Steel Inc. regarding the sale of its assets. This is reported in a press release from Klöckner.
Worthington is currently conducting due diligence on Klöckner and has not yet made a final decision on the deal.
In 2025, Klöckner took some measures to improve production efficiency, including the sale of low—margin businesses, including seven distribution centers in the United States to Russel Metals and one to Service Steel Warehouse.
Klöckner is an independent steel and metal products processing company with a turnover of 6.3 billion euros. The company is not a steel manufacturer and is exclusively engaged in trade. Klöckner supplies products to 100,000 customers in the construction and mechanical engineering sectors. The headquarters is located in Duisburg (Germany) with 160 branches in 13 countries. The staff consists of 8.5 thousand people.
Worthington Steel, Inc. is an American steel processing company. The company offers flat rolled products made of carbon steel, stamping products made of automotive and electrical steel for the automotive industry, construction, equipment manufacturing, agriculture and energy. The headquarters is located in Columbus, Ohio.
