Glavgosexpertiza approves construction of second metro line in Kazan

Russia's Main Department of State Expertise (Glavgosexpertiza of Russia, the state expert appraisal body) has approved construction of the first section inaugurating the second line of the Kazan metro, the expert appraisal body informed.

The passenger platforms of the stations are designed as 105 m islands to suit five-car trains expected to be used on the future line. The section will be put into into operation in six years. The line traffic is projected at 6,600 people per hour at the first stage of operation, subsequently going up to 9,200 passengers per hour.
