A scandal breaks out in the resort village of Gurzuf. Local residents are protesting against the construction of a three-meter ugly fence around a historical park, built in the early 19th century. This is reported by the Crimean media.

The park was laid out next to the Rayevsky estate, in 1820 A.S. Pushkin visited here and often walked in this park. At the end of the 19th century, the park was expanded, and a unique resort was built here by Russian entrepreneur and philanthropist P.Gubonin. During the Soviet period, it was transformed into a sanatorium, and in 2014 the sanatorium was transferred to the Office of the President of the Russian Federation. In 2022, the health resort was incorporated as a division of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Children's Medical Center" of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation. The park is a monument of landscape art of the early 19th century of national importance.

At the end of last year, the sanatorium began grandiose transformations, one of the first was the start of construction of a new ugly blind fence with a height of more than 3 m. The park is located in the very center of the resort village and has always been its main attraction. It was surrounded by an elegant aerial fence that did not disrupt the overall appearance of Gurzuf.

Local residents and guests of Gurzuf are deeply outraged by what is happening. In their opinion, the park belongs to the cultural heritage and everyone should have the right, if not to walk on it, then at least to see it. Local residents are writing letters to all authorities, but so far there is no decision. The head of the city of Yalta, Yanina Pavlenko, is also trying to solve the problem: "In the active stage of the negotiation process with the administration of the sanatorium, of course, the aesthetic appearance, while complying with the requirements of antiterrorism, should somehow make it comfortable."

The cost of erecting the anti-terrorist fence remains unknown, and the Children's Medical Center has stopped disclosing information about its purchases since 2023.
