Bank DOM.RF, together with the Russian Union of Tourism Industry, with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, will develop a national standard for sustainable tourism. Rosstandart has included the relevant application of the state-owned company in the national standardization plan. This was reported by DOM.RF.
The new GOST R will be aimed at standardizing an environmentally and socially responsible approach in tourism and will become a tool for evaluating the "green" facilities of the hospitality industry. The criteria of the standard will focus on environmental, social and economic aspects.
The new GOST will encourage the reduction of negative environmental impacts through the rational use of resources and the introduction of resource-saving technologies. They will also pay attention to improving the quality of life of the local population.
The GOST of sustainable tourism may enter into force by the end of 2026 and become the basis for providing state support in this area. The national standard will be called "Green Standards. Buildings and structures of the tourist infrastructure. Methodology for assessing compliance with the principles of sustainable development".
