The head of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter, Elon Musk, called for suspending the development of artificial intelligence systems that can compete with human-level intelligence. This is reported by CNBC.
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Young and a number of other AI experts also signed the appeal.
In an open letter, it is recommended to stop training models more powerful than GPT-4. The letter claims that, according to the results of major studies, AI systems with intelligence comparable to human intelligence can pose a danger to society.
"Modern artificial intelligence systems are now becoming competitive in solving common tasks, and we must ask ourselves: should we allow machines to flood our information channels with propaganda and lies?" the letter says.
"Should we automate all jobs? Should we develop an AI that can eventually outnumber, outsmart and replace us? Should we risk losing control over our civilization?" the authors of the letter emphasize.
