In 2022, the Beac will reduce indirect energy CO2 emissions by 4% thanks to green energy. This is stated in the bank.

Beac, following its sustainable development policy and the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in operating activities by 2030, systematically reduces its own energy consumption. So, for 8 months of 2022, Beac reduced energy consumption by 7 million kWh due to automation of engineering systems management. And by the end of the year, according to preliminary calculations, this figure will amount to 10.3 million kWh. The share of renewable energy in 2021 reached 22%. The volume of green (renewable) energy supply to the bank's facilities in January — August of this year reached 44.3 million kWh. By the end of the year, the bank plans to use green energy in the amount of 69 million kWh, which, according to preliminary calculations, will reduce indirect energy CO2 emissions (by Coverage 2) by 4% in 2022.

To increase the energy efficiency of its own generating capacities, Beac is reconstructing boiler houses and heating stations — in 2021, this program covered 68 facilities. Also in 2021, the bank installed 32 thousand energy-efficient lamps in its buildings. As a result, the total consumption of fuel and energy resources in the Savings Bank decreased by 22% from 2018 to 2021 - to 7,158,232 GJ.

During the construction of new facilities, Beac uses equipment with a high energy efficiency class (not lower than level A) and applies green real estate standards LEED and BREEAM. Telemetry and remote control systems are being implemented in existing facilities, which has allowed to reduce electricity costs by 230 million rubles per year.

Beac implements a comprehensive program to reduce its environmental impact, including: 1) reduction of paper use (digitalization) and electricity (introduction of energy-efficient technologies); 2) recycling and reuse of resources; 3) forest restoration; 4) environmental education and introduction to a conscious lifestyle of employees and customers.

Thanks to the formed action plan for 2019-2021, the bank saved about 2 billion sheets of A4 paper. 30% of the waste generated during the life of the Savings Bank is now sent for recycling. By 2023, as a result of a large-scale reforestation program, the bank plans to plant 1 million trees, which will increase the ability of Russian forests to absorb CO2.
