In May 2024, Russian mechanical engineering saw growth for the fifteenth month in a row. Total production in five engineering industries was 10.6% higher than in May 2023. At the same time, compared with April, the growth rate of production has significantly decreased.

This is stated in issue No. 1580 of the monthly bulletin "Branches of the Russian economy: production, finance, securities. Mechanical Engineering" dated July 1, 2024.

In general, according to Rosstat, in the five months of 2024, the total turnover of enterprises in all sectors of mechanical engineering increased significantly by 47.5% compared to the same period in 2023. Also in May of this year, Rosstat recorded a significant increase in industrial production in all five engineering sectors in annual dynamics. The production of electronics increased at the highest rate. Preliminary data for June from the Institute of Problems of Natural Monopolies show continued growth in industrial production in Russia.

Moscow and KAMAZ will build a new plant with a capacity of 40,000 trucks per year. Russia's first robotic plant for the production of medium-tonnage and heavy trucks will be built in the capital in 2025. The corresponding agreement was signed at the Moscow stand within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2024).

AVTOVAZ, ITELMA and Rostelecom will create a new digital ecosystem for cars based on the Russian Aurora operating system. It is planned to jointly develop, test, implement and develop the Aurora operating system for car multimedia devices, autopilot mechanisms, connected car systems, including the use of artificial intelligence and big data processing technologies to improve AVTOVAZ products, as well as the creation of digital products under the LADA brand combined into a single digital ecosystem.

42 billion rubles will be invested in the construction and launch of two plants for the production of mining equipment on the territory of the Solnechnogorsk city district near Moscow. Already in 2027, two plants in the Solnechnogorsk city district will be able to produce more than 500 machines per year: mine dump trucks with a lifting capacity of up to 50 tons, drilling rigs, loading and delivery machines (up to 20 tons), as well as various auxiliary equipment for mining operations. There are plans to supply Gormash Global products to the Far East, Taimyr, the Kola Peninsula and other territories where mining is actively underway.
