In the second quarter, banks repelled attempts to steal customer funds worth 1.9 trillion rubles

In the second quarter of 2026, banks reflected 17.5 million attempts to steal customer funds worth 1.9 trillion rubles. This is 4% higher than in the first quarter, both in terms of the number and volume of fraudulent transactions prevented, according to the website of the Bank of Russia.

Fraudsters performed 458.7 thousand transactions in April–June, which is 7.5% less than in the first quarter. The volume of losses of bank customers amounted to 7.4 billion rubles. The share of stolen funds from legal entities in the total volume of losses increased to 11.3% from 7.8% in the previous quarter.

The share of funds that banks reimbursed to customers affected by fraud increased to 7% in the second quarter.

In April–June, the Bank of Russia initiated the blocking of 46,000 fraudulent websites and pages on social networks and sent information to telecom operators about 7.8 thousand phone numbers used by the attackers.
