Indonesia's Asia Pulp&Paper plans to acquire the American Kimberly-Clark division for $4 billion

Indonesian pulp and paper company Asia Pulp&Paper Co. intends to raise $2 billion to finance an application for the acquisition of the overseas tissue manufacturing business of the American manufacturer of healthcare products Kimberly-Clark Corp. This is reported by foreign media.

Banks and private credit funds are also negotiating a potential loan for APP, one of the main contenders to acquire the Kimberly-Clark business for $4 billion. 

In 2024, Kimberly-Clark shares increased by 17%, increasing the company's market value to $48 billion.

APP, one of the world's largest paper manufacturers, is a structural division of the Sinar Mas Group conglomerate. The investors interested in the deal also include Royal Golden Eagle Pte and Brazilian Suzano SA.

In October 2024, Kimberly-Clark engaged consultants to review the fabric division's operations outside of North America in order to combine overseas consumer fabric businesses into a new division called International Family Care&Professional with annual sales of $3.5 billion and an operating margin of 10%.

Kimberly-Clark is an American corporation manufacturing products for healthcare, personal, professional and industrial hygiene under the brands Huggies, Kleenex, Kotex, Scott, Kimcare, Wypall, Kimtech, KleenGuard. The company operates 82 businesses in 33 countries, including 28 in the United States. The headquarters is located in Dallas, Texas.

Asia Pulp&Paper is an Indonesian pulp and paper company with headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company is one of the largest manufacturers of pulp and paper products in the world. Asia Pulp&Paper is a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Group.
