Italian Eni has signed an agreement on LNG supplies from the USA

Italian Eni S.p.A. has signed a long-term agreement with the American Venture Global LNG for the supply of liquefied natural gas. This is reported in a press release from Eni.

According to the agreement, Eni will purchase 2 million tons. LNG per year for 20 years, and by the end of the decade, the first phase of the Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2 LNG) plant with a capacity of 28 million tons per year, which is currently under development in Cameron County, Louisiana, will be launched. The project provides for the construction of two terminals and a combined cycle gas turbine power plant.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $28 billion. Venture Global started construction of the CP2 LNG in June 2025 and plans to complete the project in 2027. LNG supply agreements with CP2 LNG have already been signed with ExxonMobil, Chevron, EnBW, INPEX, China Gas and New Fortress Energy.

The agreement is Eni's first long-term LNG supply deal from the United States and represents an important milestone in Eni's strategy to expand and diversify its global presence in the LNG market and gas supplies to Europe.

The deal will allow Eni to implement its project to increase its LNG portfolio to 20 million tons per year through contract volumes by 2030 and expand its trading business to meet the growing needs of customers in key global markets.
