Japanese Sony Group Corp. By 2030, it plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of categories 1 and 2 by 60%, and category 3 emissions across the group by 25%. This is stated in the company's message.
The corporation has introduced new goals in the medium-term environmental plan "Green Management 2030" (GM2030), which covers the period from 2026 to 2030 fiscal year. The company's long-term strategy, Path to Zero, is aimed at achieving "zero environmental impact" by fiscal year 2050 at all stages of the product and business lifecycle.
Sony plans to achieve zero emissions across the entire value chain, including stages 1 through 3, by fiscal year 2040. To do this, the company intends to reduce carbon emissions to the level of residual emissions, as well as use 100% renewable energy sources in its operations.
Sony also intends to reduce the use of plastic in product packaging to 10% or less, to abandon plastic packaging for goods weighing up to 5 kg and eliminate its use in its retail stores.
